Leading Educator and 4 Year Old Seahorse - Sue Knowles
Hello,
My name is Sue Knowles and I am the Educational Leader and Teacher of the four year old group at Waverley Meadows Pre School.
My teaching philosophy is based around the Reggio Emilia approach to learning.
I have been fortunate to travel to Reggio Emilia itself and work under the guidance and tutorage of Carla Rinaldi herself as well as her associates.
This amazing opportunity provided me with a natural insight into the workings and theories associated with the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, and has inspired me to return to Australia and share my knowledge with todays children.
My aim is to provide each child entering our centre with rich varied experiences that challenge children’s thinking and motivate them to want to learn more.
Working with the young children of today allows growth within myself every time we come together to play.
Loris Malaguzzi the founder of the Reggio Emilia approach said it perfectly
“Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water.
Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning how to learn.”
Loris Malaguzzi
The 100 Languages of Children.
It is my great pleasure to share this approach to learning and thinking with each child that attends our centre.
It is my hope that these children will discover the magic of childhood and develop a life long love of learning starting here, with us at Waverley Meadows Pre School.

Program Leader - Mrs. Sarah Stoddart
Hi, my name is Sarah Stoddart and I am really excited to be joining the teaching team as the Program Leader for the Starfish and Dolphin 3 year old programs at Waverley Meadows Pre-School. I am a mum to three young children (aged 8, 6 and 2). I believe that all children are confident and capable learners and with the right level of support and nurturing can achieve great things. I am looking forward to getting to know the children and families in the Waverley Meadows community and helping the children in the class of 2020 navigate their way through the 3 year old Program.
Co - Educator Mrs. Margaret Baker
My name is Margaret Baker and I am the Co-educator for the 3 year old and 4D groups. I have worked in early childhood education for 25 years in kindergartens and Childcare Centres. I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies. My passion is engaging with the children to develop and support their learning.
I believe young children learn best in a play based structured environment where they have the opportunity to choose and enjoy both indoor and outdoor learning environments.

Co - Educator Mrs. Sam Turner
It has been a joy coming to work at Waverley Meadows for the past three years, it is such a friendly, feel good place to be. All three of my children came through this kinder and I always thought that one day I'd love to be a part of the team. I have an Associate Diploma in Child Care and Social Science, and many years of experience working in childcare and kindergartens. I enjoy working with the 4 year old children, watching them grow and prepare for moving on to school.
Co - Educator Mrs. Debbie Logan
Hi, my name is Debbie Logan and I started working at Waverley Meadows Preschool at the start of 2014. I love coming to kinder every day and working with the children. It's very rewarding being a part of their learning and helping them to develop life skills. I especially love interacting with the children and seeing them form relationships with their peers. I learn a lot from the children and am amazed at their knowledge and the life skills they have learnt by four years of age. I look forward to meeting you and your children.
Co - Educator Ms. Monica DeSantis
Hello! My name is Monica DeSantis and I am the Co-educator for the 4 year old Seahorse group. I have worked in Early Childhood Education for 8 years now, in long day care centres, as well as Kindergartens. In between this, I also started my own family. Children learn best when they are free to explore and investigate at their own pace, in both indoor and outdoor settings, enabling them to become hands-on participants in their learning. Therefore, I believe it is important in early education to allow children to become part of the teaching process, and initiate their own learning through their interests, skills and needs.
